day hospice

crafty patients

Day Hospice aims to enhance the quality of life for patients by offering them the opportunity of a day away from home where they can share their concerns in a safe, caring and supportive environment.

It allows the patient the opportunity to meet others with similar problems and to receive assessment and support from the multi-disciplinary team including specialist nurses, doctors and other clinical specialists. Patients can also benefit from a range of complementary therapies delivered by the Hospice therapy team.

In addition, patients can take part in a number of diversional and creative activities such as quizzes, card making, painting and pottery, often facilitated by dedicated volunteers.

Local school children, musicians and others regularly entertain patients in Day Hospice. The visits allow these members of the community to work with patients whilst gaining a valuable insight into the work of the Hospice.
