Why does the Hospice need your help?
With over £1.5 million having to be raised from the public each year just to continue our existing work you can see how important this source of income can be. The Hospice relies on legacies, without this form of income it would actually run at a deficit.
Why should you make a will?
Making a will is important. You will have peace of mind knowing that you have looked after your loved ones, remembered special friends and supported your favourite good causes.
Why are gifts to charities so important?
It's a common myth that only the rich and famous leave money to charity when they die. This couldn't be any further from the truth. The reality is that without the gifts left in wills by people like you, many of the charities we know and support today wouldn't even exist.
Legacies are the foundation for many charities in the UK and are vital in making sure that the work can continue.
Thankfully 74% of the UK population support charities and when asked, 35% of people say they'd happily leave a gift in their will once family and friends had been provided for - but only 7% actually do.
If just 11% did so, it would create an additional £1 billion for charities in the UK every year.
You don't have to be rich and famous to make a contribution that can make a difference. We can all do something.
Did you know that gifts to charities can help reduce Inheritance Tax?
From 6th April 2009, if the total value of your estate exceeds £325,000 then you might have to pay Inheritance Tax at a rate of 40% on the amount over this sum. You can reduce this tax burden on your Estate through making gifts to charities such as the Hospice.
If you would like more information on how to leave a gift in the form of a legacy either speak to a solicitor, or professional will writer.
