How you can help
Fundraising events are a vital part of our income, enabling us to continue to provide free care and support services.
Last year our fundraising events contributed around £480,000 to our income - to show you how important this is to us, that's enough to fund all aspects of the hospice's services for around 106 days each year, the equivalent of £4,500 per day!
Key hospice events throughout the year
Wigan & Leigh Hospice organises around a dozen key fundraising events each year. We get tremendous support for these events from the people of the borough and, if you've not already taken part in one of these events, we'd encourage you to do so. Every penny raised makes a real difference. These events can often be the simplest way to help us raise money, since you're taking part in an event that is already organised, publicised and has a following. Our key events include:
- Manchester to Blackpool bike ride
- Star Trekkers ladies' sponsored walk
- Light for a Life appeal
- Men's golf day
You can find a full list of our fundraising activities in the events section of our website.
Organise your own event
We welcome people organising their own events, large or small. We're also always really pleased to help with your event - and might even be able to contribute ideas. When you're planning an event, simply contact us for a chat. We'll often arrange to meet and find out how we can help - for example, with publicity, providing banners or collection buckets. If we're able, we'll also be present at the event; we can often arrange a photographer, to help get more publicity - and to create a record of the event. If you'd like to organise an event but aren't sure what to do, take a look at our fundraising ideas.
