Wigan and Leigh Hospice is a well-established charity which has been operating since 1983. We provide a wide range of palliative care services to people with advancing life-limiting illnesses of any diagnosis and to those people important to them. The support we offer is tailored to meet individuals’ physical, social, spiritual and emotional needs.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding and forward thinking Hospice Nurse Specialist (HNS) team. As a Hospice Nurse Specialist you will be responsible for providing a quality service for patients with complex palliative care needs. You will utilise gold standards framework meetings and encourage and support advance care planning to deliver the best service possible. Expansion to permanent role is following a successful pilot within the team.

The post also provides opportunities to contribute/lead on audits that develop the hospice community service, contribute to the development of policies and procedures and act as an education resource to other professionals, patients, relatives and their carers.

You will support the Associate Hospice Nurse Specialist and Staff Nurse team members, under the guidance and support of the team manager.

Suitable candidates will be registered with the NMC, hold a first level nursing degree in a relevant area of study and have a recognised post-registration specialist palliative care qualification. Additional qualifications which would benefit the role include the V300 and Clinical Examination Skills qualifications.

The available role
We are looking to appoint a Hospice Nurse Specialist on a permanent contract working either Full Time (37 hours), part time or Job Share Candidates will be considered. The salary band for this post is £40,089-£43,391 per annum (FTE).
