IPU Refreshment Volunteers

PU Refreshment Volunteers

About us
Wigan and Leigh Hospice is a well-established charity which has been operating since 1983. We provide a wide range of palliative care services to people with advancing life-limiting illnesses of any diagnosis and to those people important to them. The support we offer is tailored to meet individuals’ physical, social, spiritual and emotional needs.

Many services provided by Wigan & Leigh Hospice are dependent on the goodwill of our generous volunteers.

About the role
We are looking to appoint a number of volunteers to support our Inpatient Unit at the hospice.

As an IPU refreshment volunteer you will carry out duties and provide practical support to the ward staff, these include but are not limited to;

  • replenishing patients water jugs and cups
  • preparing trays and serving meals to patients
  • clearing trays from rooms and cleaning patient tables
  • some light cleaning duties in the kitchen
  • ensuring infection prevention control measures are adhered to

The role requires an approachable, friendly individual who ensures confidentiality, respect and dignity whilst being an excellent communicator. Full training will be provided.

We are currently looking for a commitment of at least one shift a week on a Sunday 7:00 – 8:30pm, with additional shift cover for holidays if available, though not compulsory.
