Wigan Beer Festival Donation of £1234.00

08 September 2013

This year, the highly successful annual Wigan Beer Festival was again held at Robin Park. Hundreds attended every night to sample some of the extensive range of real ales on offer. Festival Manager Ian Prior said, “The festival was again a great success and we are delighted to make a donation to Wigan and Leigh Hospice for £1234.00. The money was raised from tokens kindly donated back by customers.”

"We have supported the Hospice for many years, but this year is the first time that I, Chairman Pete and Social Secretary Sandra have attended the Hospice for the cheque presentation. To say that it was a surprise is an understatement!"

"The first revelation was entering the bright, modern, welcoming reception. We were offered a tour and amazed at what we saw.  I had always thought that the Hospice would be a depressing place, but it was a revelation to discover the bright, modern, welcoming feel as soon as you entered the door and the range of services provided."

"I have learned that the Hospice welcomes tours and I recommend people to visit and see how wonderful it is."

Hospice ward manager Clair Waller said, "We wish to express our appreciation to Wigan CAMRA and everyone who kindly donated tokens.  Every penny will be used to provide specialist hospice care for local people."
