Five Wigan businesses sign up for Hospice Warriors Colour Run

04 September 2014

FIVE Wigan businesses have signed up to sponsor the Hospice Warriors Colour Run.

North West Tools based at Darlington Street East and Bithells Waste Disposal located in Westwood Road, Wigan, were the first to sponsor a Colour Station on the 5K route.

They were quickly followed by communications provider Rock Networks of Stone Cross Court, Golborne; Willow Starcom, an IT support company based on Waterside Drive and The Sports Office based on Lord Street, Wigan, which provides management software to help improve the performance of players and athletes.

The event is the first of its kind in Wigan Borough and will see hundreds of people get covered in different colours of powder paint as they walk, jog or run around the track at Robin Park Arena.

It will raise funds for Wigan and Leigh Hospice and the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation.

Wigan Warriors players will throw red paint while North West Tools, which supplies and distributes tools, have chosen orange and Bithell's have chosen blue. The Sports Office will throw green, Rock Networks will throw violet or pink and Willow Starcom chose yellow.

Co-director of North West Tools, Iain Entwistle, has already run three London Marathons for Wigan and Leigh Hospice and two other staff have each completed one.

He said: "We've supported the Hospice since 2001 and I'm doing the London Marathon for the Hospice again next year. Everybody knows somebody who has some reason to deal with the Hospice so we've always tried to raise what we can.
"When we heard about the event I asked some of the lads here if they wanted to throw paint at people and they jumped at the chance!"

Managing Director of Bithell's, Louise Bithell, said: "My friend's mum was in the Hospice and she said that the staff were amazing so when I heard about the Hospice Warriors Colour Run I wanted to get involved. I won't be running but will be walking it with a friend."

The Hospice Warriors Colour Run takes place at Robin Park Arena at 12noon on Sunday, September 14th.

Tickets are available priced at £15 for adults and £7 for children. Under 5s go free and discounts are available for families and groups.
