Wigan Warriors dedicate a game to Wigan & Leigh Hospice

Wigan Warriors are dedicating a Super League game to Wigan and Leigh Hospice to mark the start of a groundbreaking new partnership.

Wigan WarriorsThe game between the Warriors and the Salford Red Devils on Thursday, July 31st at the DW Stadium will be dedicated to raising funds for the Hospice which needs over £7,400 in donations every day to support local people with life-limiting illnesses.

The Hospice will become the Warriors' Charity Partner for the evening as the first initiative of a new partnership which will be officially launched on the night.

Warriors Rugby General Manager Kris Radlinski said:

"The Wigan Club has a long and positive history with the Hospice and whilst our most famous activity was a few years ago when we wore the limited edition charity shirt in a pre-season game, there has continued to be a great relationship between both parties.

"This is the first initiative of a new wider partnership agreement between the Club, Hospice and Wigan Warriors Community Foundation which will be unveiled at the Salford game."

The Hospice will become an official ticket sales outlet for the game and tickets will be available for order from all 13 Wigan and Leigh Hospice shops as well as the Hospice itself and online at wwrl.co/hospice

Tickets in the East Stand will be available at a special lower price of £20 for adults (usually £23) and £15 for concessions (usually £16) with the Hospice keeping £5 of every ticket they sell.

The Hospice will also be holding a collection on the evening of the game whilst Warriors players will wear a unique warm up shirt on the night, which will be signed by the players and auctioned post-match.

Alan Baron, Hospice Chief Executive, said: "We are thrilled that the Wigan Warriors are dedicating a Super League game to Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

"The funds raised on the night will go towards supporting local people with a life-limiting illness and we are incredibly grateful for the support given by the Warriors now and in years past.

"I hope that local people will take this unique opportunity to support both the Wigan Warriors and Wigan and Leigh Hospice."
