08 September 2015

Asda employee Adrian Brown from Bickershaw has raised over a “Grand” for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

A 'grand' ride for the HospiceAdrian (23) took on the 63-mile cycle ride from Manchester to Blackpool in July, the first time he had ever ridden any real distance, in memory of his mum Ellen Pritchard Brown who died in 2011 following a blood clot.

Adrian, who was just 19 when he lost his mum, said: "I have been truly overwhelmed by the generosity of all my colleagues at Asda, as well as the Asda Foundation, the Co-operative Funeralcare and all my friends and family. Thanks to this amazing response, I managed to raise £1,100 for the Hospice. The ride was fantastic and it was great to be able to do something positive for my mum after such a difficult few years."

Alan Baron, Chief Executive at Wigan and Leigh Hospice, said: "We are extremely grateful to Adrian for his generous donation, which will help us to continue providing expert palliative care to over 1000 patients with life-limiting illnesses every year."
