Light for a Life raises over £50,000

22 March 2015

THE ANNUAL dedication event held at Wigan and Leigh Hospice to mark the lives of loved ones has raised over £50,000.

Dedications made by people across Wigan Borough to Light for a Life in remembrance of loved ones or to give thanks raised £51,000 for the Hospice in 2014.

Every year thousands of people dedicate a light on the Hospice Christmas Tree to a loved one. Names are also entered into the Book of Dedications as a permanent tribute.

Fundraising and Lottery Manager for the Hospice, Maxine Armstrong, said:
"Light for a Life is a very special event and it was overwhelming this year how many people came to the Hospice to join us for the switch-on ceremony.
"It's a wonderful chance to make a long-lasting tribute to someone you love or have loved while making a real difference to the lives of our Hospice patients and their families. I would like to thank everyone who made a dedication and continue to make Light for a Life so remarkable."

The Book of Dedications 2014 is now on display in the Hospice chapel alongside every other Book of Dedications made since Light for a Life began in 1998.
