At Wigan & Leigh Hospice, we provide expert care and unwavering support to people living with life-limiting illnesses. As a charity rooted in compassion, our dedicated team specialises in palliative and end-of-life care, ensuring each patient receives personalised support that meets their physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs.
We care not only for our patients, but also for those closest to them – offering guidance, comfort and connection during some of life’s most challenging times. Our services extend to people with a wide range of conditions including cancer, heart and respiratory illnesses, and neurological disorders.
Our Hospice in your Home service has been developed to provide care for people in their own homes. Our aim is to offer support additional to that being provided by other health and social care providers.
We achieve this by delivering an extra layer of care and support focused on meeting the unique needs of our patients and their families or carers.
We admit more than 250 people every year into our 14-bed Inpatient Unit.
Referrals to the Inpatient Unit come from GPs, hospital specialists, the District Nursing Service and other community professionals – we don’t accept patients directly. The length of stay depends on the needs of the individual patient. We are unable to offer long-term care on the Inpatient Unit and patients will be discharged if and when their needs can be met in another setting.
