National Fitness Day
Get active and make every move count on National Fitness Day
This National Fitness Day, we’re inviting individuals, gyms, schools, workplaces and community groups across Wigan and Leigh to take on a fitness challenge and raise funds for Wigan & Leigh Hospice on Wednesday 16 September 2026.
Whether you’re walking, running, cycling, swimming, dancing or lifting, every activity helps support local people living with a life-limiting illness and their families.
National Fitness Day is all about moving more and feeling good, so why not turn your workout into a fundraiser and help make a difference in your community at the same time?
How to get involved
There are so many ways to take part. You could:
- Complete 13,000 steps in recognition of the £13,000 it costs each day to provide hospice care.
- Swim a sponsored distance.
- Take on a cycling challenge.
- Organise a family fitness challenge in your local park.
- Join a dance, Zumba or aerobics class.
- Hike with friends and collect sponsorship.
