Bereavement support

Who is bereavement support for?

We offer a bereavement support service for those important to patients who have accessed hospice services.

How can I access this support?

When a loved one dies, the next of kin will receive our Bereavement Support Pack, which includes helpful resources and details of the support available.

Bereavement support is available at any time following the death of a loved one.

Individuals can request an assessment of their needs three months after the bereavement. Following an assessment, we offer bereavement support tailored to individual needs, which may include one-to-one support, with up to 12 sessions available.

We ask people to wait three months because the early stages of grief can bring a wide range of emotions. This time allows space for those feelings to settle and for individuals to reach a point where more structured bereavement support may be most helpful.

Remembering your loved one

The next of kin of our deceased patients will receive an invitation to a special remembrance event – a chance to come together and celebrate the life of their loved one.

You can also donate in memory of a loved one and we have a memory garden, where you can leave a lasting tribute to your loved one.
