Counselling and complementary therapies

Who can access these services?

We offer counselling and complementary therapies to patients and those important to patients who have accessed hospice services.

Counselling

Counselling offers people a safe and confidential space to talk about their experiences and emotions, helping them to cope during difficult times.

Sessions are usually one-to-one with a trained counsellor, giving individuals the opportunity to speak openly about things they may not feel able to share elsewhere. These sessions can take place face-to-face at the hospice, or remotely via telephone or video call.

Some people may choose to attend sessions with family members, allowing them to share how they’re feeling together. In these cases, the counsellor helps facilitate communication and understanding.

For many, counselling may be a new experience – and it’s natural to feel unsure. There is no pressure to talk about anything that feels uncomfortable.

Our counsellors work respectfully and sensitively, tailoring their approach to each person’s individual needs and pace.
