June and Colin’s story

28 January, 2026

June lives with MND and has received assistance from both our Hospice in your Home and complementary therapy team here at the hospice for two years. Here, June shares her story with the help of her husband, Colin.

Personalised care

Colin said:

“We were first introduced to the hospice through June’s MND nurse two years ago. Ever since then, we’ve visits from members of the Hospice in your Home team and weekly appointments with Sophia, the complementary therapist at the hospice.”

June continues:

“The care provided by the hospice is very personal. I always feel very relaxed whenever I have an appointment with Sophia, or receive visits from other members of the hospice team.”

A key part of the week

Colin continues:

“Sophia does a fantastic job of making June comfortable. The appointments make a significant difference to June and her wellbeing.

“The visits and appointments are a key part of June’s week and we are really impressed with the care being provided by the hospice. It also allows me to have some time away from caring responsibilities which is hugely helpful.”

The hospice environment

Colin continues:

“I usually go for a walk around the hospice grounds when June has her appointments and I always notice how well looked after the gardens and building are. It is lovely to see. The care provided here differs greatly from care offered elsewhere, and the environment and staff have a big part to play in this.”

June continues:

“The building is very welcoming and calming, and so are the staff.”
