Dylan Dean, who attends Canon Sharples CE Primary School, raised £220 after swimming 100 lengths at 25-metre Hindley Community Pool.

Mum Sara Hawkins, a nurse on the Inpatient Unit at the Hospice, said: "He wanted to swim 100 lengths of a 25-metre pool in two hours but did it in one hour and 38 minutes. We're so proud of him."

Dylan said: "I wanted to do something for charity and my mum works at the Hospice so that's why I chose the Hospice. I do swimming competitions and am up to Stage Nine so I decided to do a sponsored swim. My dad did 20 lengths with me and helped me. I wasn't tired when I was doing it but I was afterwards when I'd finished."
