Organ Donation

Donating your organs

We know that organ or tissue donation can provide patients and their loved ones with comfort, knowing that after they die, they have given a gift to someone in need.

Wherever someone dies whether it be in the hospice or in the community they may be able to donate organs (heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver) or tissues (eyes, skin, bone) for transplantation or research.

We often find that our patients do not realise that they can donate some organs if not others. You are welcome to talk to your hospice professional about organ and tissue donation and we will be able to direct you to other organisations which will be able to help you.

If you are thinking of becoming an organ donor a good place to look is the NHS Organ Donation website which can provide you with further information to help you make a decision. Alternatively, speak to someone on 0300 123 023 23.
