Hospice Garden Party

20 August 2012

The extensive Hospice gardens were again the venue for the Annual Garden Party on Saturday 11th August. The bright sunny day attracted hundreds of people, all of whom were keenly exploring the dozens of stalls packed with all manner of ‘goodies’; from fascinating food to the extensive range of excellent products.

This year the event was sponsored by Ellsey's Vinegar who are celebrating their 80th Anniversary.  People with the name Ellsey (or Elsie) were invited as their VIP guests in a large marquee.

Thanks  to dozens of Hospice volunteers and assorted stall holders from other organisations, the event was again a great success.

A Leigh Centurions stall was manned by Team Manager Frank Taylor, wife Christine and Chief Executive Trevor Barton.  Two Centurions players, Rob Beswick and Craig Bristow also attended.

Hospice Fundraising and Events Officer Julie Dennis said, "We were delighted with the terrific range of goods on sale and the fantastic help and support from all sectors of the Community.  From the many people who gave their time, to all the companies and organisations who donated goods and helped in a host of different ways - and of course the hundreds of people who came along to support us on the day.  Even the weather was kind to us."

Last year the Hospice Garden Party raised over £4,600 and this year's £4,800 raised on the stalls, was increased by the very generous £1500 sponsorship from Ellsey's.

Special thanks must go to everyone who supported in any way.  From the many kind donations of goods to the hours of time donated both before, during and after the event.
