Pupils from the Hindley-based ‘Travel and Tourism’ group at Oakfield High School recently undertook to do some fundraising for Wigan & Leigh Hospice.

 Creative thinking

Initially a group of ten children, with special needs, discussed various ideas for activities they could do and to plan the organisation of a raffle.  They then made posters, designed a webpage, made donation envelopes and even learned how to set up a 'Just-Giving' page.

 Job roles

Each member of the team was allocated roles which, as well as organising a raffle, included things like 'name the monkey' and 'guess the teachers jobs before they became schoolteachers'!

 Hard work

All their hard work clearly paid off because they are seen here making a magnificent donation of £221.

Hospice fundraiser Maxine Armstrong said, "This is a fantastic effort on behalf of the children, teachers and the school.  We want to give a big thank-you to the children for all their hard work and to everyone who supported them."
