Hospice 30th Anniversary Concert Hits a High Note

24 July 2013

On Friday 19th July, the Robin Park Indoor Arena was rocking at the Pearl Anniversary Tribute Concert in aid of Wigan & Leigh Hospice.

Anniversary Concert

The event was arranged by the Hospice as a 'thank you' to the local Community for its support over the last 30 years.

An audience of over 400 were enthralled by a host of local talent who made sure the electric atmosphere remained fully charged all night.

Thanks to the support of Leisuretec of Wigan who provided the fantastic sound and lighting system, the room had that big concert venue feel.

Six acts performed on the night, covering a wide genre of music and kept the audience dancing throughout.

The first half of the concert began with the No.1 Neil Diamond Tribute act - James Norton, followed by a special guest appearance from Kevin Simm of Liberty X. He was followed by the folk duo One Hand Clapping and then the amazing 14 year old Zoe Unsworth who has performed before at Hospice functions.

After a short interval, the excitement continued with the very talented Lea Michaels as Robbie Williams and climaxed with the incredible 6-piece soul band 'Street Level' who carried on playing until midnight as no one wanted the evening to end.

Hospice Chief Executive Dr Alan Baron said, "We wanted to say a big thank you to the whole community for helping to ensure that the Hospice has been able to serve the local population for the last 30 years. We are so grateful to all the artists, Leisuretec, and especially the general public who supported us on the night and continue to support our vital work.

The evening was such an amazing success and we received so much great feedback that plans are already being made for a follow-up concert next year. Hopefully we can make this a regular fixture in the Hospice calendar of events.

With the help of so many wonderful people and organisations we hope to be here serving the people of Wigan and Leigh for the next 30 years and beyond."
