Furniture Urgently Required

Wigan and Leigh Hospice are asking the local community to think of them when replacing any furniture and household items. Janet Fletcher, Retail Manager for the Hospice says, “We’ve had a sudden drop in furniture donations and are struggling to keep our 12 shops stocked with good quality, usable furniture to sell.

 "I ask that if anyone is redecorating and find that their old furniture doesn't match the new décor, would they please contact us and we'll call and collect it free of charge.  However we can only accept furniture with fire labels attached where appropriate.Donations of suites, dining sets, wall units, beds and wardrobes are always welcome but even smaller items such as coffee tables, electrical items and household bric-a-brac will help to raise valuable funds for the Hospice."


Wigan & Leigh Hospice needs to raise over £7,000 every DAY from fundraising and donations, in order to maintain the level of care and support that local people need.  The total running costs are over £4 million pounds annually.  The hospice shops income last year was almost one million pounds!


The shops are a major fundraiser for the hospice, thanks to the very generous donations of goods from our local community and the 500+ volunteer staff who freely give their time.  With your help, maybe they could break the magic figure…

If you are not a regular hospice shop visitor, why not pop into your local hospice shop.  You might be pleasantly surprised.
