Customers and employees at Asda in Leigh have raised over £1,000 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

The supermarket on Atherleigh Way held a tombola and a chocolate raffle to raise £1001.50 for the Hospice which supports almost 1,000 people in Leigh and Wigan every year.

Gwen Appleton, Community Life Champion at Asda in Leigh, said: "Whenever people know we are doing something for the Hospice the support we get is absolutely brilliant. The Hospice means so much to a lot of our customers and colleagues that if we ask for help we get it.

"We have to give a special thanks to our customers as we couldn't have done it without them, they really make all the difference."

Christine Edwardson, Community Fundraiser at Wigan and Leigh Hospice, said: "The staff and shoppers at Asda in Leigh are fantastic supporters of the Hospice and we are very grateful.

"The money they have raised will help the Hospice to continue providing care for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Leigh and Wigan."
