A total of £611 was raised at the Hairdressing Apprentice Style Awards where young hairdressers from Leigh College demonstrated their skills and creativity to friends and family at Leigh Miners Club.

Over 150 guests attended the event where the Level 3 apprentices created entire looks including hairstyle, clothes and make-up design based on a 'Movies' theme.

Ashley Robinson won first prize for her interpretation of Breakfast at Tiffany's, Katie Longshaw scooped second prize for her Moulin Rouge theme and the third prize was won by Emma Turner for her Butterfly Effect creation.

Event organiser and senior tutor Maria Houghton said: "I am enormously proud of all the students and the hairdressing team for all their dedication and enthusiasm."
