Looking After the Pennies

15 May 2014

SCHOOLCHILDREN in Hindley have donated over £400 to Wigan and Leigh Hospice by collecting loose change.

The children from St Peter's C of E School gave £441.08 raised by collecting small change over Lent and from a Green Day event when the youngsters dressed in green and made models out of waste materials.

Headteacher Nicola Green said: "Lent is all about giving to other people and we wanted to help our local Hospice because we all know someone who has been affected by a life-limiting illness.

"The amount the children have raised goes to show that when small efforts are put together it can go a long way."
