Atherton Hospice shop takings reach one million

10 November 2015

The team of volunteers at the Wigan and Leigh Hospice shop in Atherton are celebrating after their takings reached £1million.

The shop is supported by a dedicated team of around 30 volunteers but is always in need of more help.

The shop, on Market Street, sells a wide range of items from furniture and clothes to books, toys and games and relies entirely on voluntary support from the local community.

To celebrate raising £1milion, the shop will be holding a Christmas Fayre on Saturday 14th November from 10am to 1pm at Jubilee Hall on Mayfield Street in Atherton.

The Fayre will have a wide range of stalls selling jewellery, handbags Christmas gifts, ornaments, decorations and children's toys and games. A lucky dip and tombola will also help to raise funds for the Hospice and refreshments will be served.

Kate Gaynor, Retail Manager for the Hospice, said: "Our Atherton shop is one of our most successful shops, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers.

"Please come along to the shop's Christmas Fayre on 14th November to enjoy all the wonderful festivities and help the shop to raise even more money for the Hospice."
