Double your Hospice donation

24 November 2015

• Opportunity to double donations to Hospice through The Big Give’s Christmas Challenge • Supporters urged to help by donating £25,000 in two days.

Supporters of Wigan and Leigh Hospice are being urged to get behind the charity by making an online donation in December.

Over just two days, the Hospice hopes to raise £25,000 which will be doubled by The Big Give as part of the organisation's annual Christmas Challenge.

To qualify, donations must be made through The Big Give website from 12pm on Friday 4th December and Saturday 5th December. All donations made to the Hospice will go towards building a new patient entrance directly into the In-Patient Unit at the Hospice, improving patient dignity.

Christine Edwardson, Community Fundraiser, said: "The Big Give can give our fundraising efforts a fantastic boost but we need the people of Wigan and Leigh to get behind us.

"This is a huge challenge as funds are allocated on a first come, first served basis from 12pm each day and we want to raise £25,000 in just two days.

"For anyone without internet access, please call us on 01942 525566 before 4th December to make your donation over the phone and we will register the donation on your behalf."

Once a year, The Big Give distributes match funding provided by foundations, corporate sponsors and individuals to charities for projects which will benefit the community.

On both days, The Big Give will release a percentage of funding at 12pm.

Donations made online at http://new.thebiggive.org.uk/projects/view/23898 are then doubled until the funding runs out - which sometimes happens within the first hour.

If the Hospice reaches the maximum £25,000 in donations, this will be doubled to £50,000 and if Gift Aid is included the Hospice could get thousands of pounds more.
