Easter Egg delivery for patients

EASTER has come early at Wigan and Leigh Hospice thanks to a donation from Asda in Leigh.

Easter Egg delivery for patients

Customers and staff donated 161 chocolate eggs which will be given to patients with life-limiting illnesses on the Inpatient Unit and in Day Hospice.

Four members of staff made the delivery by pushing the eggs in two supermarket trollies from Asda in Leigh to the Hospice on Kildare Street, Hindley.

They also donated a cheque for £351 raised by a tombola and raffling off a chocolate hamper.

Gwen Appleton, Community Champion for Asda Leigh, said: "We left a trolley out and our customers are great - anything we do for the Hospice they really support us - and in the end we needed a second trolley because we had so many donations."

It took the group one hour and 45 minutes to make the journey from Leigh to Hindley.

The supermarket has been donating Easter Eggs to Hospice patients for over 15 years.
