Leyland Park all set for Colour Run

07 September 2015

Excitement is building for Wigan’s second 5K Colour Run on Sunday 13th September which will see hundreds of people get covered in colourful powder paint.

Participants will walk, jog or run around a 5K track, at Leyland Park in Hindley, and get pelted every 1K with a different colour of powder paint before getting covered in a final blast of colour as they cross the finish line.

Colour Stations will be manned by local volunteers and businesses who will aim to make the event the most colourful yet.

The event is raising funds for both Wigan and Leigh Hospice and the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation.

Christine Edwardson, Community Fundraiser for the Hospice, said: "Last year was a great success and we're really excited to team up with the Warriors again for this year's event. Everyone starts out in white and along the way will get covered from head to toe in lots of bright colours.

"It's an event everyone can take part in and simply enjoy getting covered in paint while raising money for two good causes.

"It will be a fun day out for all the family with entertainment and refreshments available at the park all afternoon."

The powder paint is completely safe and can be easily washed off although it is advised to wear old clothes. Those taking part are advised to wear white although everyone will be given a white t-shirt on the day.

The Wigan 5K Colour Run takes place at Leyland Park, Hindley, at 12noon on Sunday 13th September.

Tickets are available priced at £15 for adults and £7 for children. Under 5s go free and discounts are available for families and groups.
