A PEMBERTON dad is undertaking his fifth London Marathon in aid of Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

Marathon effort from Wigan dad

Jon Leggott, 29, is hoping to cross the finish line in under 4 hours in order to achieve a personal best for the famous race which is being held this year on Sunday, April 26th.

Dad to 15-month-old Amelie he usually runs with dad Steven and both completed the London Marathon in 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2010. Injury will prevent Steven from running this year but he will travel down to London to support Jon.

The pair have also taken part in three Manchester to Blackpool Bike Rides for the Hospice and have raised at least £6,000 between them through both their London Marathon runs and bike rides.

Jon, a sales and account manager for Connected World in Warrington, said: "My grandma was in the Hospice and passed away under their care, so whenever my Dad and I do any fundraising we have always done it for the Hospice. I've also had friends who have lost family members who were cared for by the Hospice.

"I'm currently running two or three times a week - about 30 miles - and I'm doing boot camp sessions. My training is going to step up next week so I'll be doing at least one 18-mile run and a few short runs each week.
"I always wanted to do the marathon and one way or I'll another I'll get to the end but I've always done it in about 4hours 25 minutes so I'm determined to do it in less than 4 hours this time."

Jon is aiming to raise £800 and can be sponsored online:
