Ticket to Slide returns

20 April 2015

A WATER slide is returning to take over Standishgate in Wigan town centre this June.

Ticket to Slide returns

Over 900 people splashed down 110ft water slide Ticket to Slide over two days in August last year raising over £10,000 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

Ticket to Slide will be built by volunteers and staff from the Hospice in partnership with Wigan Council for one day only - Sunday, June 14th.

The slide will run from outside the Grand Arcade entrance along the length of Standishgate to Wilkinson where there will be a 20m stopping zone.

Christine Edwardson, Hospice Community Fundraiser, Maxine Armstrong, said:
"Ticket to Slide raised a fantastic amount for the Hospice last year and we're hoping to do the same again with a faster and wetter slide experience.
"We'll be pumping highly pressured water along the slide so be warned - everyone taking part will be absolutely soaked by the end!"

Emma Barton, assistant director of economic development and skills at Wigan Council, said: "Last year the event certainly made a splash with supporters of the Hospice and we are delighted to be helping them out to make this year's event even better. So many people across Wigan Borough know just how important this fantastic cause is and the vital support money raised from events like this gives to the Hospice."

Lilos will be supplied and participants can wear fancy dress if they wish. Everyone taking part is advised to bring dry clothes to change into.

Some 500 tickets are available priced at £10 each which entitles the ticketholder to two rides.

Tickets are available from the fundraising team at the Hospice on 01942 524204 or see www.wlh.org.uk for more information

Ticket to Slide will open at 11am and finish at 4pm.
