Volunteers needed for new Wigan shop

11 September 2015

Wigan and Leigh Hospice is on the lookout for new volunteers to help run its brand new shop on Hope Street in the centre of Wigan.

The shop will be five times bigger than its existing shop on Mesnes Street and will have two floors, selling a much wider range of stock.

On the ground floor, the store will be devoted to furniture and clothes, while upstairs will see the opening of a brand new "Occasions" department, selling bridal dresses and mother-of-the-bride outfits as well as Prom, evening and cruise wear.

The Hospice is looking for around 20 new volunteers to work in the shop and to be part of a major success story which has seen the Hospice network of shops grow now to 13 across the Borough raising over £600,000 each year for the Hospice.

The Hospice is holding a Volunteer Coffee Morning at the new shop, at 11 Hope Street, Wigan, on Wednesday 23rd September at 10.30am for anyone who'd like to find out more about volunteering roles in the new shop.

Kate Gaynor, Hospice Retail Manager, said: "This is a really exciting time to join us as a volunteer as we expand our range and take on a bigger and more prominent shop, which is more accessible for people from the pedestrianised area.

"We're holding a coffee morning so that anyone who is interested in becoming a shop volunteer can come along and find out more about the roles available. Even if you only have a few hours a week to spare, we really need your help.

"Volunteering gives you the chance to learn new skills and make new friendships as well as work as part of a team. Come along and see how you could get involved in our exciting new shop."
