Lowton garden party success for Hospice

05 July 2016

A Lowton family has raised over £700 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice by hosting an afternoon tea in their garden.

Catherine Edwards and her mum Linda Hogg have hosted a fundraising garden party for the last four years to support local causes and, this year, they chose Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

Catherine said: "We decided to raise money for the Hospice as two of our close family friends have received treatment there but also a close family friend sadly passed away at the Hospice earlier this year and we have nothing but praise for the wonderful things they do.

"This year's party was a fantastic success with over 40 guests. We decked the garden with bunting and served everyone with a glass of sparkling wine and a sit-down afternoon tea with china cups and saucers. We'd just like to thank everyone who came along to support us and to help out on the day. We couldn't have done it without each and every one of them!

"We'd also like to thank the local businesses who supported us by donating raffle prizes, including Haydock Racecourse and Amans in Lowton."

Christine Edwardson, Community Fundraiser, said: "This is a fantastic way of supporting your local hospice and having a great time with your family and friends at the same time.

"Our thanks go to Catherine, Linda and all their friends and family for holding such a fantastic and very successful event. Their donation will make a significant difference to the lives of so many local people living with a life-limiting condition."
