The Mayor of Wigan's Charity of the Year

06 June 2016

It is a real honour that the Worshipful, the Mayor of Wigan Borough has chosen Wigan & Leigh Hospice as the nominated charity for his year in office.

Wigan & Leigh Hospice has been providing specialist palliative and end of life care for adults with a life-limiting illness for more than 30 years, supporting over 1,200 patients and their families in the Borough every year.

The Hospice cares for people with any life-limiting illness, including heart failure, cancer, motor neurone disease and respiratory illnesses. Most of our patients are cared for in their own homes, although we also look after people living in nursing or care homes and at our Hospice Inpatient Unit in Hindley.

As a registered charity, we are funded mainly through the donations and support of local people and businesses. We are enormously grateful to the Mayor for supporting us and would like to wish him every success for his mayoral year.
