Wigan's Kym Marsh announced as Hospice Strictly judge

05 July 2016

Coronation Street actor, former Hear’Say popstar and Wiganer, Kym Marsh, will lead the judging panel at Wigan and Leigh Hospice’s first ever Strictly Dance event at the DW Stadium on Saturday 12th November.

Ten contestants from across the borough will be paired with expert dancers from Hurst Dance Studios and will compete in front of a panel of judges to be crowned the Wigan & Leigh Hospice Strictly Dance Glitterball Champion 2016.

Philip Hurst, from Hurst Dance Studios, will host the event and will lead all ten couples through a strict training programme in the coming weeks to get them ready for the event.

The Hospice is looking for local businesses to support the event and various sponsorship packages are available with all proceeds going to support the Hospice.

Dr Alan Baron, Chief Executive of Wigan and Leigh Hospice, said: "We are delighted that Kym has accepted our invitation to be a judge at our first ever Strictly Dance event.

"As a Wigan-girl, who has risen to fame and gained vast experience in the entertainment and music industry, she will make an excellent judge and it's wonderful that she is supporting her local hospice.

"We are now in the process of finalising our ten contestants before they embark on their dance training with Hurst Dance Studios and their team of highly experienced dancers.

"Please come along and support us on the night. Why not book a table for your friends, family or business? There are also a whole host of sponsorship opportunities available so please get involved and help us to make this event a fantastic success."

Tickets are available from £40, which includes a three-course meal.

To book your tickets, please email fundraising@wlh.org.uk or call the fundraising team on 01942 525566.
