Headteacher rides for the hospice

Mr Hunt, headteacher at Golborne Community School on Talbot Street, cycled 158 miles during the school holidays and estimates he has raised over £900.

Mr Hunt began his trip with 6 other cyclists in Whitehaven on the Cumbrian coast and spent 3 days with his friends cycling to Tynemouth located on the coast in Tyne and Wear.

He said: "I keep fit - I go swimming before work but this was all inclines including one section which was uphill for 6 miles. It was a fantastic challenge and I certainly had to use all of the school's values to get through: Resilience, Empathy, Ambition, Pride, Respect and Patience.
"I wanted to raise money for Wigan and Leigh Hospice because all my family is from Wigan and I wanted to do something for a local charity, which does amazing things for extremely ill people."
