Emilee swims 10K to raise funds after the hospice provided respite for her Grandad, Joe

Throughout the month of July, Emilee decided to swim 400 lengths of her local pool to raise money for the hospice after her Grandad, Joe, was cared for in the Inpatient Unit after suffering a spinal cord compression.
After being impressed with the standard of care and kindness shown by hospice staff and volunteers to both her Grandad and other family members, she knew she wanted to get involved with a fundraising challenge.
Emilee’s Mum, Louise said,
“My Dad had a spinal cord compression and lost the use of his legs and was admitted to the hospice for respite to help him start his physio journey. We spent 8 weeks visiting my Dad in the hospice, we are such a close family and spent many hours there.
The reason Emilee took on this challenge was because she found out the hospice needs to raise over £12,000 a day to just open! She was shocked and wanted to help – but also wanted to challenge herself, just like her Grandad had a challenge ahead of him to overcome.
Emilee has shocked us with her determination and stamina, and her proudest moment was completing a whole mile in one session which equalled 64 lengths.”
Emilee has smashed her original target of £500 and raised £1,900 for the hospice through her fundraising!
We are so grateful for her kindness, hard work and determination. Well done Emilee.
