Taking to the skies for Wigan & Leigh Hospice

Louise's father-in-law was cared for by Wigan & Leigh Hospice

In September 2025, amazing fundraiser Louise is taking on the ultimate challenge – a Sky Dive to raise money for Wigan & Leigh Hospice! She is doing this in memory of her father-in-law, Peter. Here is her story.

“I decided to take on the Sky Dive this September in memory of my father-in-law Peter, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He spent his last few weeks in the Inpatient Unit at the hospice, before sadly passing away in January this year.

This will be my second fundraising challenge for the hospice, after taking on the Snowdon Sunrise Trek in June last year with my daughter. We want to give back as much as we can, to say thank you to all the staff at the hospice for everything they did for us and Peter.

We have such positive memories from Peter’s time at the hospice, he was always comfortable and having a laugh and a joke with the nurses. He praised them constantly for everything they did for him and other patients and their families.

We will never be able to repay those who helped our family, but by raising as much money as possible we hope we can make a difference.”
