Those living with terminal or life-limiting illnesses can also suffer from other health issues – such as lymphoedema. These may be ‘secondary’ but they can fundamentally affect someone’s wellbeing.

Colostomy Association

The Colostomy Association is a UK registered charity representing the interests of people with a colostomy. Colostomy is not a subject that is openly discussed - hence there is a general lack of public knowledge on what it's like to have a stoma. They offer support, reassurance and practical information to anyone who may be about to have, or already has a colostomy. The Association provides assistance to those who are new to living with a colostomy as well as those who have been colostomates for many years. Appropriate support and advice is offered to families and carers both before and after surgery.

Lymphoedema Support Network

The Lymphoedema Support Network is a registered charity run by people who live with lymphoedema and is the largest information provider about the condition in the UK. This website forms contains information for patients about the condition and the experience of living with lymphoedema as well as information for health care professionals looking to support patients with lymphoedema.

Urostomy Association

The Urostomy Association aims assist those who are about to undergo or who have undergone surgery which results in a urinary diversion, such as a urostomy, continent urinary pouch or neo bladder - and also to assist carers in the rehabilitation of people with a urinary diversion. They aim to improve the quality of life of people who have undergone urinary diversion surgery and those who care for them and to undertake such research as the Membership feels is necessary to enhance the life of members.
