Chloe’s Story

Celebrating Volunteers' Week with Chloe

To celebrate volunteer’s week, we would like to introduce you to some of our amazing volunteers!

Today’s volunteer is Chloe Jolley, who is one of our newest volunteers and has volunteered for Wigan & Leigh Hospice for the past 2 months.

Chloe volunteers for our Retail team at our Leigh Bradshawgate shop. She has a full-time job but manages to squeeze in around 4 hours of volunteering each week. Chloe also has a very personal reason why she chose to support Wigan and Leigh Hospice as both her brother and her nan received care on our inpatient unit in the past few years.

Volunteering at our Leigh Bradshawgate shop has given Chloe an insight into how much work goes on behind the scenes to sort all the donations and get the stock out onto the shop floor to be sold to raise vital funds.

Chloe says,

“I am very lucky to have a few free hours each week to be able to support Wigan and Leigh Hospice, and to give something back for the care my family members received, not everyone has spare money to donate but could maybe give their time instead.

4 hours doesn’t seem like a lot but it is an easy way for me to give back, and I get enjoyment out of it especially as my Nan loved shopping in charity shops, so I feel closer to her and I know that she would be proud of me.

I would urge anyone that has time to volunteer – it gives me enjoyment and satisfaction knowing that I am supporting an amazing cause!”

Thank you to Chloe and to all our volunteers for the time and support that they give to Wigan & Leigh Hospice.
