Before joining the Practice Development Team here at the Hospice, Marie worked in home care where she worked her way up to being a manager of a residential unit in a care home.

Chris was diagnosed with Non- Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and experienced multiple relapses since 2019. He was introduced to the Hospice Nurse Specialist team in June 2024, who supported and cared for Chris whilst he was at home.
Ian has been volunteering for the Fundraising team for 12 months and assists with picking up collection boxes and distributing event posters and flyers across the borough.
Christine began volunteering on our Inpatient Unit in May 2018 after coming into contact with the hospice on separate occasions with different family members.
Bethany began volunteering at the Hospice over a year ago, supporting the refreshments team in the Inpatient Unit. She does this alongside her full time job in the NHS.
Kath has been a Wigan & Leigh Hospice volunteer on the reception team for five years. She also helps to cover any shifts where needed as a bank receptionist.

Our Hospice in Your Home service was introduced in 2014, so that care could be provided for patients in their own homes.
