Will’s Story

Celebrating Volunteers' Week with Will

To celebrate volunteer’s week, we would like to introduce you to some of our amazing volunteers!

Today’s volunteer is Will Travis, who has volunteered for Wigan & Leigh Hospice for the past 8 months.

Will volunteers for our Retail team at our shop in Pemberton. He came to us after being on a Future You program that enabled him to gain employability skills and he wished to continue to gain further skills to help him gain employment in the future.

A typical day for Will involves ensuring that the shop is organised, assisting customers, taking payments on the till, and sorting the CD’s and books ready to be sold.

Will’s favourite part about being in the shop is using the till and card machine, he says;

I enjoy chatting to customers, helping them with their purchases and making sure that everyone feels welcome in our shop. I know that I am representing the Hospice and want to give a good impression to our customers. I have gained lots of customer service skills which will help me in the future.

I look forward to going in for my shifts and I also enjoy being part of a team and working with the other volunteers.”

Thank you to Will and to all our volunteers for the time and support that they give to Wigan & Leigh Hospice.
