40th Anniversary celebrations continue with Charity Golf Day

This year marks 40 years since Wigan & Leigh Hospice opened its doors to patients in the Wigan borough. Throughout the year, celebrations have taken place which allow people the opportunity to thank the hospice for all its work across the 40 years, the charity golf day was the most recent event.

Hosted by Hindley Hall Golf Club, 20 teams came together on Friday 15th September for a healthy competition across 18 holes.

The event provided ample opportunities to network with like-minded individuals whilst enjoying all the features of a prestigious golf day and supported the hospice by celebrating our 40th anniversary.

The reintroduction of the event was a success for the hospice, with golfers enjoying their time on the green as well as the rest of the day. Altogether, the day raised an incredible £8,000 with all proceeds going to Wigan & Leigh Hospice. This success means that the event will now be an annual one, and includes tea, coffee and biscuits waiting upon arrival, with a shotgun start at 1pm. After a day of golfing, the golfers enjoyed a two-course meal before a prize presentation, raffle and silent auction to round off the day.

Haydock Park Golf Club, who alongside Hindley Hall Golf Club, have chosen Wigan & Leigh Hospice as their Charity of the Year. Both clubs have been actively raising funds throughout the year to help support the hospice. Support from local businesses continued with our Hole sponsors. Beautiful Creator were our Nearest Pin sponsor and Kraft Heinz sponsored our Longest Drive.

It is businesses like these whose fundraising helps to provide the necessary resources needed to provide care to the patients and their families across the Wigan borough.

Thank you to everyone involved for making the day a success.
