Wigan & Leigh Hospice has teamed up with 143 hospices across England, Scotland and Wales as part of the #ThisIsHospiceCare campaign.
In 2023-2024 gifts in Wills paid for 55 days of care at Wigan & Leigh Hospice, thanks to the kindness of the local community.
Every day, we see the life-changing impact of quality hospice care on people of all ages and backgrounds, and their families. Yet, sustainable funding is needed to ensure we can continue offering this essential support.
Legacy giving offers one of the most powerful ways to support Wigan & Leigh Hospice. A gift in your Will creates a lasting impact that allows us to continue offering the care and comfort that so many depend on – today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.
As the population ages and the demand for hospice care rises, the importance of gifts in Wills has never been greater.
Jo Carby, Chief Executive at Wigan & Leigh Hospice says:
“As a charity, we rely on the support of our community to ensure our services are available to people when they need them the most. Gifts left to us in Wills play a big part in this and it is always so special to receive these donations.
There are very few people in Wigan & Leigh who won’t know someone who has been supported by the hospice. We only exist because of the people within our community and our hope is to always be here to provide quality care when necessary.
By choosing to leave a gift in your Will to Wigan & Leigh hospice, you’re playing a big part in protecting our services for generations to come.”
In 2023-2024, Wigan & Leigh Hospice provided care to around 1,400 patients within the Borough, and that number is getting higher every year.
The demand for hospice care is on the rise. Today, as many as 90% of people who die in the UK could benefit from receiving palliative care. And by 2040, around 130,000 more people in the UK will die each year than in 2023, according to the Office for National Statistics. Now, more than ever, securing the future of hospices is crucial.
The #ThisIsHospiceCare campaign shows how hospice care relies on the generosity of people leaving a gift in their Will to their local hospice, to ensure that support is available for everyone who needs it, both now and in the future.
