Announcing the 2024 Wigan Borough Palliative and End of Life Care Awards Winners

Health and Social Care professionals from within the Wigan Borough came together at Leigh Sports Village on Friday 11th October to celebrate the Palliative and End of Life Care Awards.

15 awards were handed out to members of staff from care homes, GPs, district nurses, extra care workers and hospital workers. The Wigan & Leigh Hospice Practice Development Team who facilitate the Wigan Borough Palliative and End of Life Care Learning Hub were proud to run this event.

Debbie Jones, Practice Development Team Lead said,

“As the Practice Development Lead, one of the highlights of my year is our annual awards evening. It is such a humbling experience to celebrate the tireless work of all our health and social care settings in the borough. It is a chance to say thank you to staff who go that extra mile every day, to ensure that the people they care for, have the best end of life care possible. It really is an uplifting night, and it is so important that we ensure that our local workforce is valued, and their contribution acknowledged.”
