Our Corporate Challenge

BUSINESSES across Wigan and Leigh are being challenged to turn £50 into much more for local people who need palliative and end-of-life care.

Challenge is made to businesses

Funds raised through the Corporate Challenge 2018 will be used to purchase new specialised beds to be used on the 14-bed Inpatient Unit.

Rebekah Ashley, Inpatient Unit Manager, said: "Every one of our patients has unique needs and we want to ensure they are as comfortable as possible while they are with us.
"One of the most important things we have to consider on the Inpatient Unit are the types of bed we allocate to each patient. We would love to get more profiling beds, for example, which are specially designed to provide extra comfort for our patients who are confined to their bed."

Maxine Armstrong, Fundraising and Lottery Manager, said: "Our Corporate Challenge is a fun and creative way for businesses to raise money to help local people who need palliative and end-of-life care. The challenge will also really motivate staff to work together to do something good.
"There are lots of ways to raise money - hold a raffle, use the money to buy sponges and buckets for a car wash, hold a quiz night, use the money to buy ingredients for a bake sale or come up with some ideas of your own."

Last year's Corporate Challenge raised over £10,000 towards caring for local people with a life-limiting illness and was won by Leigh Market. Stallholders held a book sale, raffles, tombolas, had collection tins and took part in the Wigan and Leigh 5K Colour Run.

To celebrate the end of the challenge an awards ceremony will be held in January when the team which has raised the most will be announced as the winners of the Corporate Challenge 2018.
