Dedicate A Daisy to a loved one
20 April 2017
A MEANINGFUL way to mark the life of loved ones has been re-launched for 2017 by Wigan and Leigh Hospice.
The Hospice's Dedicate A Daisy initiative goes directly to support its Counting on Care Appeal, which aims to raise £50,000 to modernise the 14-bed Inpatient Unit and make it dementia-friendly.
In return for a donation, the name of a loved one is engraved onto a wooden daisy which can be taken home straight away or planted in the Trivedi Garden in the hospice grounds.
Christine Edwardson, Community Fundraiser, said: "Dedicate a
Daisy is a simple and meaningful way to support our Counting on
Care appeal. A lot of people tell us that they would like some sort
of memorial to their loved one at the Hospice so dedicating one of
our beautiful wooden daisies gives families and friends that
"Our daisies are planted together in a quiet and peaceful garden which people are welcome to visit at any time."
In September everyone who has dedicated a daisy this year will be invited to a ceremony at the hospice when they can take home their daisy if they haven't already done so.
The redesign of the Inpatient Unit (IPU) focuses on making improvements to the bedrooms, bathrooms, the corridor and bays leading to the bedrooms. Not only will the transformation create a more modern IPU but it will be easier to navigate and will particularly help to ensure that people with dementia feel more comfortable and safe in the hospice.
You can Dedicate A Daisy by filling in the form on a leaflet
which is available in the hospice, in hospice shops and in
