Double your Hospice donation
02 December 2014
SUPPORTERS can get their donations to the Hospice doubled over three days in December.
The Hospice hopes to raise £16,000 which will be doubled by The
Big Give as part of the organisation's annual Christmas
Challenge.
Donations can be made through The Big Give from 10am on Thursday,
December 4th until Saturday, December 6th. And all donations made
to the Hospice will go towards the Counting on Care appeal to
modernise the inpatient unit and make it dementia-friendly.
Maxine Armstrong, Fundraising Manager, said: "The Big Give can
give our appeal a fantastic boost but we need the people of Wigan
and Leigh to get behind us.
"This is a huge challenge - funds are allocated on a first come,
first served basis every day and we want to raise £16,000 in just
three days."
Once a year The Big Give distributes funding provided by
foundations, corporate sponsors and individuals to charities for
projects which will benefit the community. This year more than £2m
is available.
On each of the three days The Big Give will release a percentage
of funding at 10am.
Donations made online at
http://new.thebiggive.org.uk/project/21966 are then doubled until
the funding runs out - which sometimes happens within the first
hour.
If the Hospice reaches the maximum £16,000 in donations this will
be doubled to £32,000 and if Gift Aid is included the Hospice could
get thousands of pounds more.
The Hospice launched the Counting on Care appeal in October 2014
to raise £60,000 towards the cost of transforming the 14-bed
inpatient unit which cares for around 250 people with a
life-limiting illness every year.
Designs are being drawn up for a refurbishment which incorporates
designs to make the inpatient unit a more comfortable and soothing
place for patients and their visitors who suffer from
dementia.
