American fun day raises funds for Hospice

An Independence Day celebration held at the Whistling Wren pub in Leigh raised over £300 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

An Independence Day celebration held at the Whistling Wren pub in Leigh raised over £300 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

The pub, at Leigh Sports Village, held the American-themed day on 4th July to raise money for the Hospice.

Families from across Leigh enjoyed candyfloss and popcorn as well as face painting and a bouncy castle.

Lauren McHenry, from the Whistling Wren, said: "We are delighted to have raised over £300 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice. Thanks to all our very generous customers who came along on the day to support the event. We were very lucky with the weather and it was a great family atmosphere. Thanks also go to those local businesses that supported the event by donating prizes for the raffle."Whistling Wren
